 About ElysianSometimes funky, sometimes rock, sometimes soulful, Elysian is sure to inspire. What happens when two black girls from St. Louis and a white boy from Northern California get together and sing? You get Elysian. Sometimes funky, sometimes rock, sometimes soulful, Elysian is sure to inspire. Jim, Nina and Chrissy began singing together in the summer of 2004. As they collectively led worship at their church, their three voices immediately found their place with one another. Nina’s soulful alto with Chrissy’s ethereal soprano mixed with Jim’s gritty tenor, blend to make the unique sound that is Elysian. Their original compositions and layered harmony will draw you heart to heaven as you dance here on earth. Jim thought he was done recording music when he came to the Quad Cities. After eight album projects and dozens of compilation projects, Jim had sold his recording studio and was packing it in. That was before he heard these beautiful songs. Knowing these songs needed to be recorded for the masses, Jim once again assembled a recording studio and began the task of recording Elysian’s self-titled debut project which was released in November of 2008. Jim Powell has more than twenty years of professional musicianship. He toured for ten years throughout the western United States logging more than three hundred days per year on the road through much of that time. For twelve years Jim had been on staff at large churches on the West Coast and in the Midwest as a Music Pastor and has participated in numerous community and recording projects. From blazing guitar solos to rich orchestral arrangements, Jim’s many years as a singer/songwriter/producer provide the framework for these incredible songs. Nina Little and Chrissy Boyer are both new to the world of professional music. Having never performed professionally, but giving their time and talent totally to God, they have performed for thousands as they have faithfully led their church in worship every week as well as perform in large community events. The Elysian experience is completed with two of the finest musicians the Quad Cities has to offer. John “Breeze” Ladson and Brent Anthony Johnson provide an unshakable rhythm section that will instinctively make you ‘groove”. These professional clinicians provide a quality of musicianship that is unsurpassed in the Quad Cities.
